Deleting your account in the app

The quickest way to delete your data is directly inside the Offleash app. Go to Settings. This permanently removes your profile, dog profiles, photos, check-in history, messages, and all other personal data from our systems in accordance with the retention schedule below. Deletion is irreversible.

Requesting deletion by email

If you are unable to delete your account from within the app — for example, if you signed in with Facebook and no longer have access to your account — you can request deletion by emailing us at hello@off-leash.app with the subject line Data deletion request. Please include the email address or display name associated with your account so we can locate it. We will process your request within 30 days and confirm deletion by email.

What gets deleted

When your account is deleted, we remove:

• Your display name, email address, and profile photo
• All dog profiles and dog photos linked to your account
• Your park check-in history
• Messages and dog DMs
• Any connections and connection requests
• Authentication data associated with your Google or Facebook login

Group content: Photos and posts you have shared in park groups will have your authorship anonymised — shown as “A former member” — rather than being deleted. This preserves the continuity of community conversations. Your name and identity will no longer be associated with that content.

Aggregated data: Check-in data and activity that has been incorporated into anonymised, aggregated statistics — such as park visit counts and breed mix data — may be retained indefinitely. Once anonymised, this data cannot be linked back to you and does not constitute personal information.

What happens to linked dog profiles

If you are the primary human of a dog profile and delete your account, any linked humans on that profile will be notified and given 30 days to assume primary ownership. If no linked human assumes ownership within that period, the dog profile will be deleted along with your account data.

If you are a linked human (not the primary human) and delete your account, your link to the dog profile will be removed. The dog profile and its primary human account will not be affected.

Data portability — exporting your data

Before deleting your account, you may request an export of your personal data, including your check-in history, dog profiles, and photos. To request an export, email hello@off-leash.app with the subject line Data export request. We will provide your data within 30 days.

Personal data is deleted within 30 days of a confirmed deletion request. The following retention periods apply:
